Chingay Parade 2011

Description of Activity:
A dazzling extravaganza of colours and cultural diversity, Chingay Parade Singapore is known for its resplendent floats and multi-cultural local and international performances that are an insight to our festive traditions and delight the hearts of many Singaporeans and tourists.

The RHYA BroadBAND Team, in collaboration with Metta School, will be performing at the Chingay Carnival. It will be a good opportunity for us to spread the word of Racial Harmony through the beats of drumming from our BroadBAND Team to the eyes of the public.

Dance Fiesta 2011

Description of Activity:
Dance Fiesta 2011 is a joint programme by various youth organisations under Youth Network, National Youth Council. South East CDC is a founding member of the Youth Network, which is chaired by Mr Teo Ser Luck.

This 3-month long Dance Fiesta aims to engage youths and young working adults through dance. There will be a series of workshop, road shows and competition starting from January to March 2011.

Our newly-formed interest group, Solid Elixir, will be participating in the competition and flash mob routine. It will be a good opportunity for us to spread the word of Racial Harmony through Solid Elixir to the public.

Telok Blangah IRCC - Interfaith Dialogue 2010

Description of Activity:

Together with MCYS and Telok Blangah IRCC, Buddhist Fellowship is organising the Interfaith Dialogue - "Faith Perspectives on Interfaith Engagement" The Guest of Honor is Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education.

The RHYAs have been invited to welcome him using the BroadBAND performance.

Chingay 2010

Date: 18, 19 and 20 February 2010, which are our Full Technical Run, Parade 1 and Parade 2 respectively.

Description of Activity:

RHYAs have been invited to perform in Chingay for the first time. They will have the opportunity to interact with foreign participants and to learn more about their culture. We need volunteers for the banner bearers of the following countries.

1) China 
2) Thailand 
3) Indonesia 
4) Malaysia 
5) Taiwan 
6) Japan 
7) Bhutan 

They prefer male volunteers as we would need to carry the banner which has some weight (plus wind conditions at F1) and also to walk over 800m (around 20mins). 

Japan contingent will also need volunteers to help in the Japan Mobile Structure. 

Spoken to Chairperson of Eurasian Association (EA) in charge of the EA contingent. We are exploring ways on how to work together. Girls in the RHYAs can help on this if they would like to participant in Chingay 2010. 

Schools to Schools visit

Description of Activity:

School-to-School (S2S) visit is one of RHYA EXCO, Projects Team and MSN Team’s initiative that aims to promote the Racial Harmony Youth Ambassador programme and to support the SYOG 2010 through series of activities. The first vist by the RHYAs was conducted on 27 January 2010 at St Anthony Cannosian Primary School.

Youth Olympics Games Roadshow for the 100 days Countdown to YOG

Description of Activity:

RHYAs and Y2Y Network will be combining strength in support of YOG, for the roadshows.

Kicking off in May 2010, roadshows and activities will be organised on a bi-monthly basis to celebrate the 100 Days Countdown to YOG, sustaining and promoting awareness of YOG for existing South East residents and visiting patrons.The importance of sustaining the momentum for community outreach, bonding and sports enthusiasm is emphasized here. 

South East District Meeting 2010

Description of Activity:

The aim of District Meetings (DM) is to provide residents an avenue to share ideas and feedback on the CDC’s programmes. The first DM was held in January 2001 in the South East District and other CDCs have since followed suit by holding annual DMs in their Districts.  

National Orange Ribbon Celebrations 2010

Description of Activity:

The National Orange Ribbon Celebrations is a signature event and focal point to promote understanding, appreciation and trust among Singapore’s multi-cultural and multi-national society.

South East District Racial Harmony Day 2010

Junior RHYA Programme, Graffiti Arts and the Youth Concert are planned to be in this event.

Racial Harmony Youth Ambassadors Induction Camp Cohort 12

Date: 31 May - 4 June 2010
Time: Overnight Camp.
Venue: NACLI

Description of Activity:

To increase youth awareness of working together in a multi-racial society and help built self-confidence and presentation skills. After camp, youths would plan and organise projects that promote inter-racial understanding for their schools and/or the CDC to benefit their school mates and/or the community. The senior ambassadors also act as mentors to the younger students in their projects.
